Look what marvelous things showed up in my mailbox! @maggieumber @2d.cloud
Just wanted to thank @bluemonkwrites (he writes haikus which I love) for buying Startled Maggie and Time Capsule! This happened while I was off tumblr, but it made me so happy, had to put it in my queue. :)
A couple of pages from Startled Maggie.
Startled Maggie issue one published by 2dcloud and written and drawn by me (under an alternate name).
My original pencil drawing plus Raighne’s coloring on the final cover.
My Mom yelling at me for peeing on the rug and other good stories.
You can buy that book here.
I’ve spent the last month trying to write a decent recommendation of this book.
Everything in it resonates for me - the art, the humor, even the parents look like mine.
Which I thought I could translate into meaningful comments, like in its simplicity it walks a exciting balance between many current comic notions, but it all remained largely a feeling of personal kinship with the work. It’s endearing. It resonates. And it’s a finely crafted book. You should purchase a copy and also check out the artists new works in progress.
Wow, thank you dalehollow!!! :) :) :) I love this review! So happy!
During the making this book I got the flu, a sinus infection, and shingles. Then my husband stepped on my glasses broke them, fell and landed on my head with his knee. When I put on my glasses the messed up lenses made me think I had brain damage. I needed to finish the book before my new glasses arrived, so I had to draw with my head an inch from the paper. It was a dangerous production and I always worry that it was a waste of effort. But whenever anyone reads it I feel so glad.
